I am heartbroken to find out that Mr. Fortunato has passed away. I so rarely get to State College anymore, and I happened to be listening to his CD that he gave me (I Love A Piano). I thought I'd look online to see if there was anything about other CDs, or info on him, and came across his obituary. He was always Pa Fortunato, and my daughter still remembers him showing her a puppet or marionette (something like that) that he showed to her when we were visiting one time. Ma and Pa Fortunato were very special to me, and I will miss him terribly, just as I miss her. I will cherish this CD even more now. And I will miss his singing and music. He was so special, and loving and caring.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't even know if you'll see this at this point, but I just felt like I wanted you to know how special he was, and how much he'll be missed. Take comfort in knowing he touched so many people's lives and lit up there hearts in so many ways. ... Now I have to work through my broken heart, but I'll have his music to help me through. God Bless you all, and thanks for sharing him with me and so many others.

As a member of the Glee Club and Hy-Los from 1964-1967 under Frank Gullo, I loved to sing Hail Oh Hail and the Penn State fight song arrangements Ray provided. I trust there is joy in Heaven as Ray joins the heavenly choirs (and rejoins Frank in singing together). I am sure you feel the loss, but you should know that Ray blessed many and touched many. I was born and raised in Bethlehem and am a fellow Liberty High School graduate. It blessed me to read Ray's obituary which brought back many fond musical memories, as well as to recognize some unusual links to Ray. May God minister to you in your loss.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy for the loss you have suffered! Please know that God is a God of all comfort and he will be there for you during this time! (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) Psalms 34:18 tells us that God is close to the broken-hearted and he saves those crushed in spirit. Yes, God truly cares for you! Go to him in prayer and he will provide you with "the peace of God that surpasses all understanding " - Philippians 4:6,7. Jesus said "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life." -John 11:25. Yes, God truly cares about us and Jesus tells us we will see our loved ones again! I hope this brings you a measure of comfort as you endure this most difficult time.

Ray served the Penn State Thespians above and beyond the call of duty and our organization would not be where it is today without him. He earned the title of Honorary Chair of the Thespians Endowment for Excellence and we hope this will continue to honor his service and memory to the Penn State Thespians. We send our best wishes to the entire Fortunato family and extend our deepest sympathies.
May God be with you all.

Ray was a steadfast alumni of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity in additional to his collegiate duties. He represented an iconic image of success and duty o the younger men.
We did not now of his heroic performance in the US Army during WW2, just another tribute to his patriotism and duty to his country.
Great men leave a lasting legacy.
