Obituary of Margaret A. Smyser
Margaret A. Smyser, 89, of Pleasant Gap, died Friday, January 12, 2018, at the Village at Penn State Atrium.
Born June 1, 1928, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Miriam Rathfon Herting. On August 27, 1949 in Harrisburg, she married Harry E. Smyser Jr., who preceded her in death on August 10, 1998.
She is survived by two children, Susan A. Master of Harrisburg and Harry E. Smyser III and his wife, Linda, of Lansdale; a brother, Earl P. Herting of Elizabethtown; a half-brother, P. Gary Herting of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Leigh Master, Matthew Smyser, Andrew Smyser and Clayton Master.
Margaret was a 1946 graduate of the John Harris High School in Harrisburg and a 1949 graduate of the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia.
She retired from Corning Glass in 1987, as an Industrial Nurse.
She was a volunteer at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Margaret was a member of the St. Mark Lutheran Church in Pleasant Gap. Memorial contributions in Margaret's memory may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church, 160 N Main St, Pleasant Gap, PA 16823.
