Obituary of Dolores A. Butler
Dolores A. Butler, 12/13/33, passed away at home in State College, Pa. Dolores is survived by Larry Butler, her husband of 60 years. Oldest of three children Tom Butler, and wife Kathy, reside in Sterling VA, along with grandson, Michael Butler. Tom runs Acumen Accounting. There other grandson, Joe Butler, with wife Kathy, live and work in New York City. Her oldest daughter, Victoria Ramsey with husband Jim, are in Summerville, SC. Granddaughter, Bethanie Ramsey attends American University Law School, in Washington, DC. Daughter, Elizabeth Ratcliff with husband, Scott, live in Bend, Oregon along with youngest grandsons, Jack and Luc, where they produce Volcano Vineyards wine.
Dolores was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin, where her parents operated Maresh Funeral Home. She graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in Racine, and earned her undergraduate degree at what is now called Mount Mary University. She worked for the Wisconsin Electric Company as their home economist while living in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. After years in Downers Grove, Illinois the family moved to West Springfield, VA. Where she managed the offices of Accotink Academy, a private school and later the offices of Dave Yoho and Associates.
Eighteen years ago, Dolores and Larry decided to relocate to State College, PA She had wonderful medical care from her many doctors including, John Solic MD, Evan Bell, MD, Stephen Donelan MD , Dr. Christopher Yingling and PA Sarah Tyson. Special thanks to Dr. Thomas Covaleski, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center, Thanks too for all the good nurses, Mandy, Crystal, Kirstin and Sheri from Centre Home Hospice along with in home help from Nicole and Jaime
In March of 2010 Dolores survived a heart attack and her health slowly declined. She spent two years fighting Kidney disease and Urinary Tract Infections and all the while staying at home in the care of Larry. At the beginning of 2018 her doctors advised Hospice Care and on the 18th of January she died.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and loving grandma. She became an avid Penn State football fan and never gave up her allegiance to the Green Bay Packers. She received communion every day from Larry and Kathy Hirshbine of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. We can only visualize Dolores being carried into heaven on the wings of angels.
Visitation at Koch Funeral Home in State College 5 to 7pm Thursday, January 25th.The funeral Mass at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church is set for Friday, January 26, at 10:30 AM, with the Reverend Neil Dadey presiding.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Dolores to a charity of the donor’s choice.
