Obituary of Vincent Nicholas Argiro
Vincent Nicholas Argiro, 84, of State College, died Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at his son's residence surrounded by loved ones.
Born February 8, 1934, in Caulonia, Reggio Calabria, Italy, he was the son of the late Nicola and Maria Caristo Argiro. He often credited his paternal grandmother, Angela Fanto Argiro, for raising him, after his parents died when Vincent was a very young boy.
He is survived by his former wife and the mother of his children, Louise Petruzzi; five sons, Vincent N. Argiro and his wife, Dana, of Hickory, NC, Anthony L. Argiro of Waldorf, MD, Nicholas Argiro of State College, Mark J. Argiro and his wife, Karrie, of State College and David A. Argiro of Los Angeles; fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Maria Nancy Workman.
Prior to retirement, he was employed as a Master Tailor for various retail locations including Brooks Brothers, Joseph A. Banks Clothiers, Inc., L. Greif and Bro., Inc., Genesco Inc. and Charles Navasky & Co.
He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.
Visitation will be from 1 until 3 p.m., on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College.
An additional visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m., on Monday, March 5, 2018 at the funeral home followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service with the Pastor Scott Leddy officiating.
Burial will be in Houserville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Janet Weis Children's Hospital, 100 N Academy Ave, Danville, PA 17822 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
