Obituary of Ariel Jane Hummer

Jane Hummer, 86, of State College, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2011, surrounded by family. Born on March 31, 1925, in Shamokin, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Hoober) Heim. She received an Associate Degree from George Washington University. On July 6, 1957, she married the late Robert Warren Hummer in Washington, D.C. Following what she always described as an idyllic childhood in Shamokin, Jane and Bob raised their family in Chevy Chase, Maryland, where they were longtime members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Washington, D.C. After Bob's retirement, they returned to Pennsylvania where they lived in Sunbury before relocating to State College in 1998. Jane is survived by two sons and their families, Bob Hummer and Anne Tubiolo; Jay, Trish, Erica and Evan Hummer, all of State College; and Joseph, Nicole, Dashiell and Matisse Hammett of Kittanning. A memorial service will be held at Pine Hall Lutheran Church on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at 3 p.m., with Rev. Greg Harbaugh, STS, officiating. Burial will follow in Graysville Cemetery, Huntingdon County.
