Sue ... I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. From the obituary it is obvious he had a long and full life. No matter how old our parents get, we still have a hard time saying goodbye. I hope that you and your brothers are comforted by the sure hope of the life eternal. My sincere condolences TCJ

Tom was and will always be considered a hero of mine. He was an amazing man of tremendous character, resilience, and optimism. He inspired me again and again! How could someone with his experiences come through with such bravery and determination? I once asked him this question but first admitted I believed I would not have withstood the test. He said that had I had the Marine training he had, I would have done fine. I do not consider myself to be anything comparable to Tom McBride. In fact compared to Tom I am lowly and unworthy!!!! It was very heartwarming to have Tom say such a thing! There were other Marines on that island who had the training but nonetheless broke down. I believe Tom was a hero amongst heros.
I have known people of the generations spanning back to the 1880’s. Truly....Tom was an amazing person. I am so thankful that I had the great privilege and HONOR to know Tom. His memory will be with me for the rest of my life....I will never forget him or honor him. I will tell the story of Tom McBride to anyone who will pause long enough to hear it. This is a story that will continue to serve as an example of courage, perseverance in the face of great trials, gentility, kindness which builds others up, an a genuine love of life! God blessed America and all of us through Tom Mc Bride’s life. Thanks be to God and may God embrace Tom with an eternal love forever and forever!!! AMEN
