Obituary of Marguery Renee Caplan

Marguery (Gerri) Caplan passed away on June 13, 2018 at Juniper Village, State College. She was 91 years old and was preceded in death by her daughter Susan Caplan, due to childhood leukemia. Gerri is survived by her husband of 69 years, Frank (Bill) Caplan of State College, Pa and her sister, Patricia Swire of Rye Brook, NY. She is also survived by her two sons, Jim Caplan (Grace) of Chapel Hill, NC and Bill Caplan (Becky) of State College, PA. Gerri is the grandmother to: Ben Caplan, Jennifer Cordova, Chris Caplan and Katie Caplan. She is the great grandmother to: Matt, Will and Rose Caplan. Gerri grew up on Long Island, NY and studied fine arts at Stephens College in Missouri and Syracuse University, where she met her husband. Gerri loved her dogs and shopping at flea markets. Her backyard in Florida was filled with her orchids. Gerri enjoyed art, cooking and travel. Her house is adorned with many of her original pieces of art. She spent her summers with family at Lake George, NY. Gerri moved many times in her life, spending time in New York, Chicago, Michigan and the East Coast of Florida. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Gerri will be buried alongside her daughter, Susan, at the National Cemetery for veterans in Saratoga, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Leukemia Society of America. Arrangements are under the care of Koch funeral Home, State College.
