Obituary of Grace O. Adewumi

Grace O. Adewumi, 62, of Lemont, died Thursday, July 19, 2018, at home. Born August 11, 1955, in Nigeria, she was the daughter of the late Sunday and Omobola Sangodeyi (nee Olawumi). On May 5, 1977, she married Michael A. Adewumi. She is survived by her husband, Michael A. Adewumi of Lemont; five children, Adeolu O. Adewumi-Zer and her husband, Hakan Zer, of Nairobi, Kenya, Adebola A. Adewumi of Portland, OR, Olorunsegun A. Adewumi of State College, Ebunoluwa A. Adewumi of State College, and David A. Adewumi of Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Nike and Tyler Adewumi, and Adeola and Adekola Zer. In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Kristy Adewumi. She graduated from Saint Margaret High School in Ilesa, Nigeria in 1972. She attended the University of Ife in Ile-Ife, Nigeria and received a Bachelor's degree in Accounting in 1978. In 1982, she received her Master's in Accounting from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. Grace was a faithful member of the State College Assembly of God church where she encouraged others in their faith and served as a strong prayer warrior. She had passion and love for Jesus Christ and for introducing him to anyone she encountered, no matter who they are – even doctors and nurses and other caregivers taking care of her while in the hospital. She was quick to share her faith through her words and actions. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., Monday, July 23, 2018 at State College Assembly Of God, 2201 University Drive, State College. Funeral service will immediately follow at 12 p.m., at the church, with the Reverend Steve Silliman officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery.
