Obituary of Ella Illingworth

Ella Mary Illingworth, 94, of State College, died on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Centre Crest, Bellefonte. Born January 17, 1924, in Ferguson Township, she was the daughter of the late Henry Snyder and Mary Julian Illingworth. Ella is survived by a sister, Irene Illingworth and a brother, the Reverend Dr. Lynn L. Illingworth and his wife Sue, both of State College. Also surviving are 10 nieces and nephews who Ella was very close to, Dr. Lori Bond, the Reverend Beth Illingworth, Todd L. Illingworth, Brian Illingworth, Dawn Taillon, Brice Illingworth, Tommy Wiberg, Marian Illingworth, Keith Illingworth and Cyndie Bostwick. She was preceded in death by a sister Celia Wiberg and a brother Henry Snyder Illingworth Jr. Ella received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Penn State and later received her diploma as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed for many years at Temple Market in downtown State College as the store manager and for the eleven years prior to her retirement she worked the 11 to 7 shift at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte. She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ on West College Avenue in State College where she taught Sunday School for over 20 years. She also delivered Meals On Wheels for over 25 years and for many years she provided after school care for preschoolers in her home. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am, on Tuesday, July 31, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Carl Campbell, Rev. Dr. Lynn L Illingworth and Rev. Beth Illingworth officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St Peter's United Church of Christ, 1795 West College Ave. State College, PA 16801 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
