Obituary of Marianne Schrader
Marianne Schrader, 83, of State College, died Friday, July 27, 2018, at Foxdale Village.
Born May 29, 1935, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Kuhns and Angela Eckenrode Kuhns. In 1951, she married Peter Maserick and later divorced, he preceded her in death on August 31, 2014. In 1975 she married William Schrader, who was an Accounting Professor at Penn State.
She is survived by four children, Maura "Allison" Maserick of Alexandria, VA, Jenny Eccleston of Herndon, VA, Margo Shogren of Annandale, VA, Paul H. Maserick, of Mechanicsburg; two stepchildren, Frank Schrader of State College, and Diana Schrader-Shaw of Philadelphia ; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert Kuhns of Silver Spring, MD.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marianne was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Kuhns, Jr.
Marianne graduated from Seton High School in Baltimore. She pursued a nursing certificate and also received her MSW degree from Penn State University to work as a Social Worker.
She compassionately worked with the Association of the Mentally Retarded and other crisis organizations to help counsel people in need. Marianne and Bill shared an enthusiastic interest in antiquing and she also loved all kinds of art, poetry and music. She was proud to hold the position of a Dosen at the State College Palmer Art Museum. She also enjoyed singing, reading and gardening. Marianne had many friends at Foxdale and seemed to know everyone and was always impressed by all of them. She loved playing many games with her friends and online and wrote for the Foxdale newsletter. Marianne was a member at University Baptist and Brethren Church where she served as a Deacon and a member of the Worship Committee. Mariannes' infectious smile, sense of humor and willingness to laugh at life will be missed by many.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Foxdale Village, 500 E. Marylyn Ave., State College, with Rev. Bonnie Klein Smeltzer officiating.
