Obituary of Doris M. Jones

Doris M. Jones, 92, of State College, died on Friday, October 26, 2018, at Wynwood House, Centre Hall.

Born January 11, 1926, in Lakemont, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Martha Watson John. On February 26, 1949 at Simpson United Methodist Church in Altoona, Doris married Reese Ivor Jones, who preceded her in death on November 5, 1990.

Doris is survived by three children, Cynthia L. Solic and her husband, John, of State College, David R. Jones and wife, Miriam, of Lititz, and Jeffery I. Jones and wife, Laura, of Port Matilda; five grandchildren, John M. Solic and wife, Samantha, of Raleigh, NC, Katie Solic and husband, Mike Luber, of Media, Peggy Solic of Bloomington, IN, Morgan Jones of Atlanta, GA, and Ethan Jones of Port Matlida; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by her grandson, Timothy J. Solic, nine siblings, and her best friend for over 70 years, Jane Pogue.

Doris graduated from Altoona High School in 1944. She was an Aide at the Westerly Parkway Junior High School for many years. Doris was a member of the State College Alliance Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a deaconess. She was an active volunteer at church and Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Funeral service will be 11:00a.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at State College Alliance Church, 1221 W. Whitehall Road, State College, with Pastor Aaron Henning officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service, from 10:00a.m. until 11:00a.m.

Burial will be in Boalsburg Cemetery.
