Obituary of James Lynn Savage

James Lynn Savage, 74, of State College, died Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born October 23, 1944, in Houston, TX, he was the son of the late Luther and Eva Brown Savage. On August 23, 1964, he married Dorothy Ann Drum, who survives.

Also surviving are three children, Robert J. Savage and his wife, Joan E., of Zion, Michelle L.Witmer and Dawn M. Foster and her husband, Terry, all of State College; two sisters, Helen Mills and Martha Savage, both of Spring, TX; seven grandchildren, Brandon M. Witmer, Hannah J. Foster, Rylan Q. Foster, Bryana N. Witmer, Maya P. Foster, Erin S. Foster and Griffin H. Foster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Marie Savage in 1970.

James served in the United States Army from October of 1961 until May of 1982. James retired as a Master Sergeant after 22 years and three tours of Vietnam. He received an Associate's degree in Computer Programing in 1970 from Contemporary Institute.

James was employed as a Computer Programmer-Analyst for over thirty years working for Penn Traffic, Murata Erie, and Safelite. In his last nine years before retiring he worked for the Army National Guard as an administration officer.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m., on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at St. Catherine's Cemetery in DuBois, with a full Military burial service.
