Obituary of George Ellwood Williamson

George Ellwood Williamson, 73, of State College, died Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at home. Born July 21, 1945, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Ellwood George and Vivian Smeal Williamson. On August 5, 1978, in Clearfield, he married the former Susan Jane Thomas who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Ruth Ann Williamson of State College and Sarah Jane Williamson of Milroy. George served in the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. He received an associate's degree from Penn State University in Business in 1967. George was the former Manager of the Clearfield Water Company and later became the Plant Manager of Kurtz Brothers in Clearfield. He was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Clearfield. He became a member of Gatesburg Lutheran Church when his wife became the Pastor there. George was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed field trials with bird dogs and coaching youth basketball. Friends will be received from 1 until 2 p.m., on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at the Gatesburg Lutheran Church, 1924 W. Gatesburg Road, Warriors Mark. Memorial service will immediately follow at 2 p.m., at the church with the Bishop Michael Rhyne officiating. Burial will be in Crown Crest Cemetery in Hyde, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 4250 Crums Mill Road, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17112. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
