Obituary of George Harvey

George Burnett Harvey, 87, of State College, Pennsylvania died October 8, 2011, at The Atrium at The Village at Penn State. Born September 21, 1924 at Salina, Kansas, he was a son of the late George B. and Hazel Truitt Harvey. On November 29, 1974, in Christ Episcopal Church, Greenwich, CT, he married Annie Campbell, who survives at home. He graduated from Salina High School and the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. He served in the Army in Europe during World War II. He was a Certified Public Accountant employed by PriceWaterhouseCoopers in New York, New Orleans, Tokyo and Stamford, CT and retired in 1985. He resided in Stamford from 1971 until 1993. He was a member of Christ Church Greenwich and served on the Vestry and as Treasurer. He was a founder of St. Luke's Lifeworks in Stamford and served on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer. He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in State College. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Jean Hebbel, of Bryan, Texas and several cousins in Kansas and California. The funeral will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Foster and Frasier Streets, State College, PA with the Rev. Richard Wall and Rev. Richard Virgil officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Following the service, friends are invited to a reception in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 208 W. Foster Avenue, State College.
