Whether playing his cello or talking about the need to better infuse scholarship into the undergraduate curriculum, Gene’s passion for life and learning was infectious. Despite a long and wonderful life, it ended too soon my friend, and I’ll treasure the memories of the many hours we talked about everything from the significant to the silly.
