Riley and Videau have been our next-door neighbors for 30 years. They both have been our generous friends, acted as confidants about many matters big and small, and have held a solid presence in our neighborhood.
I have admired Riley -- my image of an engineer -- for his analytic approach to ideas and problems as well as for his resilience and tenacity to seek correct information and solutions.
I will miss seeing and interacting with Riley. His common greeting, "How y'all doing?," always was delivered with the sincerity that only a gentleman from North Carolina can deliver. And, as Mencius, a Confucian philosopher, observed, "Sincerity is the way to heaven." Godspeed, my neighbor and friend.
Videau, I hope that you will call on us for any help needed. We are your neighbors.
