Often the great teachers in one's lifetime come from the people you least expect. Erin was such a person for me. I recall first seeing her in church, a mother of four who seemingly kept to herself and to her family. O how first impressions can be so misleading!
Erin was one of the most humble, passionate and devoted servants of Jesus Christ that I have ever known or will know in this lifetime. She taught me so much by displaying these qualities in everything she did - consistently and emphatically. I had the privilege of serving with her in GWC's children's ministry for last 3 years. She was our rock although she would never accept such a tribute, quickly deferring to our Lord and Savior. She was a gifted teacher whose depth of detail and planning for GWC's kids was nothing less than amazing. And if a pie was needed for a meal - no problem. She made three all while homeschooling her wonderful children and loving and caring for her wonderful husband. I never heard or suspected a complaint.
Erin's impact on my life and on the children's ministry at GWC is significant. She will be deeply missed but not forgotten. The example she provided will be the standard to which we aspire in telling our youth about Jesus. Thank you Lord for sharing this wonderful servant with us.
My heartfelt condolences to Fred, Gwen, Owen, Evan, Lilly, Erin's parents and sister. May the Lord comfort you in this time of grief. Rest assured, however, that your dear wife, mother, daughter and sister is with the Lord and in Glory. I can see her now organizing the next play.... With love, Mark
