Elena, Susie, Polli and Jack's entire family: I just learned of Jack's death and, as I am feeling the overwhelming sadness and tears are falling, I am lifting you all up to the One I know will hold you and comfort you. Jack has, and will, always hold a special place in my heart and life. I will forever recall and hold onto the memories of his duties policing the streets in Belleville and his 'social life' on Iron City Avenue. I honor and loved the place in him where the entire universe lived. His laughter and love will echo through my reminiscence of childhood and our reconnection as adults. Tough we are forced to let go physically we never let go emotionally or spirituality. Memories of Jack's love for you, Elena, his adoration of his family and extended family of friends will always keep our memories of Jack alive. May your special memories strengthen you not to be strong just to go on, but to be strengthened in your love for Jack and each other. Can you imagine the party that is going on 'up there?' That's our Zookie! ! My thoughts are with you always and in all ways.

The neighbors in Nittany Orchard will truly miss Jack's smiling face. He truly was a remarkable man because of all that he did for the community. Our kids looked forward to Santa on the firetruck every year when they were small. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Zook family during this difficult time.

I'll always remember Zookie drinking his coffee and listening to us babble about what we were doing and what we were going to do while trying to make it through our college years! He always had a few words of wisdom and encouragement for us. Loved to here the story of how Zookie met my father, Lou Bernier many years ago at the old “Train Station” in State College. We love you Zookie and we will miss you dearly!

Words cannot express the loss that we are all feeling right now. Know that Jack is now at peace and no longer in pain. Jack was a wonderful man, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend & will always remain in each of our hearts in a very special way. I am always here for you Elena and your family if you should ever need a shoulder to lean on or an ear for just listening. I'm so thankful that I stopped to see you and Jack that Tuesday before my trip and had a good visit. I love you girl!

We are so saddened to learn of Jack's passing. Although I am sure that Elena and the rest of his family are full of sorrow and will miss him terribly, I hope that their many memories of his loving and outgoing spirit, his great sense of humor and strength and perserverence will bring them comfort. All of our love and prayers are with you at this time. Rest in Peace, Jack. You will be missed.
