Barbara and I were friends and neighbors when our boys were young. We were neighbors and were in a bowling league together. She was a wonderful artist, chef and friend! Our condolences to her family.

I came to state college twenty six years ago for a visit with my sister and really got to know her as over the years we would only see each other at family events. I can't say enough about her as I found how talented she was in almost anything she attempted. I used to be her big bro and hero, after watching how she handled adversity especially cancer she became my hero and best friend. She always worried about others even while she was going through so much herself. To me she also was a mother figure if I complained about any thing like being sick or my aches and pains, she would say have you called your doctor, and then check back to make sure you did! On occasion she would call me while I was driving and I didn't have my seat belt on and the alarm would be dinging, and she would say put that seat belt on. I'm so blessed to really get to know her like I did. I will cherish all the good memories I have of her and will miss her so much

I didn't know Barbara well, but everytime I spoke with her (usually at Art Alliance shows) I carried away with me some of her dynamic spirit and warmth. What a fully-lived life. My sympathies to all touched by her.

I can't remember when I met Barbara but we bonded immediately. She was interesting, so very bright, and spirited.
I loved her paintings, and still have a pair of earrings that she made which I purchased at the Boalsburg Memorial Day festival years ago.
I loved seeing her at the Y.M.C.A. where we worked out. She was always upbeat and eager to share her travel stories .
She raised the bar for many of us who will remember her and smile.

I was so saddened to hear of Barbara's passing. I got to know Barbara through her life partner Geof who was my doctoral mentor. I remember Barbara as a fun, kind, intelligent, creative and incredibly interesting person. I feel so privileged to have known her. I will always cherish the two paintings of hers I bought: Driving through a Dream and Dream Catcher. To Geof and Barbara's family - my heart is with you during this difficult time.
Sincerely, Laura Payne

Barbara taught me how to properly squeeze out a bag of tea. You spoon out the bag and wind the string around the spoon head until the paper is against the bag. You then press the bag through the paper so you don't burn your finger. I will never do it another way. Thank you Barbara. She loved Geof each day and helped him enjoy years of gardening and simple living. Travel, garden, nap, enjoy food, talk, enjoy company. Repeat. What I witnessed was life's activities as they should be lived. She will be missed by many.

We shared many delightful hours with Barbara while exercising at the Y. We were "treadmill" buddies and shared our political and artistic views. She was a very special friend. We will miss her greatly.
