Mom: It is hard to believe but you passed away 4 weeks ago. I know you don't need the light of a candle because you are surrounded by bright lights in heaven but I thought you might like a pink candle to take on your journey. I am lighting a candle at our house from time to time to help guide you on your journey as well. I know you be growing a lot of African violets at your new home in heaven. Love Dave

Mom: Thanks so much for sharing with me your love of nature. When we were kids we would search for monarch caterpillars on milkweed plants and bring them home and watch them eat and eat and eat to eventually form a chrysalis and eventually become a butterfly. Over the past few years I have been growing Common and Swamp Milkweed in our back yard to help bring back the Monarch population. So far this summer I have released 3 monarch butterflies, I have 8 more in the chrysalis stage ready to become butterflies, 8 caterpillars actively consuming milkweed leaves, and 12 eggs waiting for a baby caterpillar to emerge. Each time I release a butterfly I will think of you flying from flower to flower as you enjoy the sweet nectar in heaven. Dave Barnard

June was a loving 3rd grade teacher at Park Forest Elementary. I enjoyed working with her because she always saw the BEST in our children and she always smiled. She often said to me that the best thing that she could do for her class was to "get a good night's sleep"! I have carried that advice through my teaching years! Brilliant!
May June rest with God forever! I send blessings and comfort to her children and family! She was a beautiful person.

Mrs Barnard was one of my favorite teachers many many years ago. I have fond memories of Pioneer Days and other activities and she was always fully involved and enjoyed watching over our rambunctious group! She was also a friend and brought bulbs up to our house one day. Those flowers still bloom at my mothers’ house and we call them Mrs. Barnards’ flowers! It’s been over 40 years. She will be remembered by so many for her love of teaching and love of children.

Jenny: Thanks for sharing the fond memories of our mom. As you probably know, mom loved gardening and growing house plants. She grew multiple African Violet plants around the house and she could get them to rebloom year after year. I never did learn her secret but I think it was to give them just a little water every so often, but not too much. I'm so happy to learn that Mrs. Barnards flowers are being enjoyed by your mom. God Bless you! Dave Barnard

The picture on here of Mrs. Barnard is exactly how I remember her from my days at Park Forest Elementary School in the late 1970s. She was such a nice lady and great teacher. So many great memories in her "cluster". She is missed.
