Janice was a wonderful person and neighbor. We enjoyed getting to know her over the past several years and also enjoyed seeing her at the Boalsburg Memorial Day celebration and sharing her history through her books. We share our deepest sympathies with the family and will miss having her as a neighbor.

I had the opportunity and really the pleasure to work with Janice when she was a doctoral student at Penn State. She was always so kind and caring and deeply interested in helping to provide high quality education for all of the various students that she had an opportunity to teach and work with. I know that she made a lasting mark on the world through her service to her students. I am deeply sorry to hear of her passing. May she rest in peace.

I was so shocked and upset to read about Janice’s passing. It seemed like just a few days since I had seen her walking around the neighborhood with her daughter. I feel very sad and send my condolences to the family. She was a very friendly person and I was happy to read in her obituary that she was a very learned person. My prayers go out to all of you.

There are too many “wonderful, wonderful” memories of this great woman I was honored to call my mother-in-law. I was blessed to have her in my life and was grateful to lend a hand to do whatever I could to help out, letting me barter my handyman services for pie and other baked goods. I will surely miss her teaching me the Pennsylvania Dutch language and lots of other sayings she grew up with that made me laugh.

I am very shocked and saddened by the passing of Janice. She gave so much time and passion to the history of Boalsburg and the museum. There would not have been a museum without her. She will be missed.

Some of the best times we had as a family were going to the cabin in the 7 mountains, swimming in the in ground backyard pool and going camping in the Terry trailer, and going to Boalsburg to be with Grandmas and Grandpa Sweet and Aunts Uncles and Cousins!

Mom was a generous and beautifully sensitive creative woman who balanced her career with her family. She was a role model with high standards of living, creating beauty wherever she went. She gave a lot through both service and financially, passionately supporting those she loved and contributing to the community in varied ways. She is deeply imbedded in me and I will forever miss her! I have always and will always love you, and miss you Mom. I am so sorry for your life struggles. Rest In Peace with my Grandmas Grandpas, Dad and anyone else who is with you now.
