My thoughts and prayers go out to Ruth's family.I met Ruth and Paul probably around 1983 when we moved to Rockville Centre where my husband grew up, right around the corner from Ruth and Paul. I got involved in NCJW right away and met Ruth at the meetings and programs for years and years until she moved to PA to be closer to family. She always talked about her kids and her grandchildren and was so proud of all of their accomplishments. We also served together at Rosa Lee Young Childhood Center and the Child Care Coalition. What always amazed me about Ruth was that she was such an advocate for so many issues, so many issues that really didn't pertain personally to herself at the time. I always remember thinking, here is Ruth fighting for childcare or a woman's right to choose, when her kids were already all grown up and she wouldn't even benefit from any legislative changes personally. But she did it because she believed in the issues and she was a strong advocate in her beliefs. She walked the talk throughout all the years I knew her and was a wonderful mentor to my generation. Her contributions to so many Rockville Centre organizations have made them much stronger today because she was a part of them in the past.
