Jennifer and I were deeply saddened to hear the news of Ed’s passing. We always enjoyed our chance meetings in Calder Alley or our talks about all there was to do in Kennebunkport. Every time we saw Ed he was upbeat and engaging. He was a remarkable individual who had the rare quality of always being present, always communicating his happiness to talk with you. Charlene, may you and your family remember all the good times and all Ed did for you, his friends, and the entire community.

Charlene and Family,
I am deeply saddened to hear of your loss, I want to express my heartfelt sympathy. I have known Ed almost my entire life and he was nothing but a kind, thoughtful, and caring person. He was someone who could make you laugh, someone I looked up to, and someone I had great respect for. Ed had such a close relationship to our family that we all called him "Uncle Ed" because he treated us like family. Something I will always remember from my childhood is Uncle Ed driving up in his car to come say hello in such a cheerful and lighthearted manner. He was always interested in our lives and loved to put a smile on our faces. He will be forever missed.
Sincerely,
Shannon Hoffman

I was so sorry to see that we lost Ed Friedman. His impact on Centre County life has been enormous. One of the special treats
I had as a County Commissioner was serving on the Real Estate Board of Assessment with Ed for several years. He had a
rare combination of brilliance and humor which made all those lengthy sessions actually enjoyable. His impact on his family,
his friends, and daily life in Centre County will be felt for generations.

Mrs. Friedman, I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Friedman was always kind and helpful to myself, and my business. After my heart attack, he personally called me to inquire about my health. His generosity and kindness, as well as your own, are a great inspiration to me. I appreciate everything you both have done for me.

Monica and I are saddened by your and our entire community's loss of such an engaging and giving person. Ed always took time to converse, and often laugh, with me whenever we happened to cross paths....usually at some committee or commission meeting. I always felt he was genuinely interested in my viewpoints and always, always opined in return.....and I intently listened not wanting a learning opportunity to slip by.
If there is anything at all we could do for your family please do not hesitate to call on us. Stay well!

To Charlene and the family..... Ed was one of those very unique people we are fortunate to meet in life who makes us smile and feel better, regardless of whatever we're going through. Our lives are all better because we knew Ed !!
Our time together in Vero Beach over so many years was really special ...dinner parties around the round table, great food and wine and laughing....Ed always in serving mode (his secret ambition was to be a waiter, as The Boulevard commercials revealed) ... Going out to dinner at a restaurant with Ed was more difficult, because he always wanted to secretly pick up the check,.... Our appeals to Charlene were useless, as she just knowingly smiled and shrugged,"That's Ed".
On Harbor Pointe in Vero, the couple was inseparable...Ed and Lokka that is! Ed on his bike, Lokka totting along beside him with what appeared to be a smile on her face as she adoringly looked up to Ed.
As a Bogey Boy golfer, only Ed would have the self-confidence to use pink golf balls to match his pink shoe laces. His quips were so predictable and yet we all laughed every time he said "...and, was she attractive?" His tennis skills were deceptive....he didn't have the physique of a star athlete, but on the Grand Harbor tennis team, he was a very skilled opponent, ....in fact, he was good at just about everything he did.
Our visit to State College a few years back was unforgettable as Ed was obviously the local celebrity of the Memorial Day celebration and the antique car show. Dressed in his vintage outfit in an early 1900's Packard, there were lines of local people waiting to chat with him. Ed was an exceptionally good listener who took time to listen, made us all feel like he was truly interested in each of our lives.
Ed was an accomplished businessman, .....smart, insightful, discerning and yet, he was so humble, empathetic, and tremendously generous. With his life partner Charlene at his side, they were a team, a powerful force for good, whether in Florida or Pennsylvania. We will miss him tremendously.
With all our love,
Susanne & Doug Sweeny

Dear Charlene, Rob, Susan and family. We send you our deepest sympathy to our cousin Eddie.
I remember our times together post college tennis games and specifically the time we stayed at Ed’s house and I got up early went for a jog and took his dog with me sans leash. All went well but when we returned safe and sound Ed could not believe his dog didn’t bolt as was his normal behavior . ( must have been the treats I kept handy)
Ed was present at his parent’s home when we became engaged. He and his family prepared a wonderful celebration we will never forget.
Please inform us when the memorial service will occur.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
