I worked with Dave only a short time, but it was long enough to know he was an amazing person. He loved talking about various subjects, but especially his maple syrup which was of course delicious. He was definitely a hard worker and fun co-worker, and someone I knew I could count on. He is missed by all of us at the SMO.

Sharing a memory of Dave, the care with which he explained the way maple sugaring works to "newbies" at the Field Station each spring. We were so glad to be able to take part in the sugaring this year before COVID shut everything down, and to see Dave when we dropped our Chris off at college this summer. He will be sorely missed!

I am one of David's cousins on the Blair side. My dad was in the Air Force so we lived in many places. When we were young, we would travel to PA to visit all our relatives. The most fun we had was when we visited with Aunt Jean, Uncle Sid and all our cousins. Some of my best memories were of all seven of us playing either at the family farm or in the back yard.
As we got older, we didn't connect very often, but a few years ago, I visited Sid and Jean, and got to have dinner with my cousins and extended families. We shared stories (and yes, many were about the sugar shack), and we laughed and had a grand time. I am so glad I was able to reconnect. This is how I will remember David-full of life, full of his own "special" brand of humor, and all of us laughing. It was a wonderful time for me, and now it will be even more cherished. I will miss David very much.
