My special memories of Betty go back to my years at Penn State. Over my time as a student, there were many times when I thought I fiercely needed help, a special permission, some urgent need that only Betty could solve. I'm sure it took a good bit of patience on her part. She always gave me friendly, gracious assistance. Her interventions made my life at college much better. I understand now that it wasn't just a job to her, it was who she was, an outstanding person.

Sincere wishes of sympathy to Betty's dear family. I had the pleasure of knowing Betty in our water aerobics class at the Penn Stater. What a joyous person to know and what good laughs we shared.

My sincere condolences on the loss of Betty. She was a wonderful lady, so upbeat and fun. She and your dad were good friends with my parents, Tom and Aj Roush, and my father's sisters, Joan Armstrong, and Donna Krumrine, and their husbands and several other couples. I doubt there was anyone in State College who didn't know your parents. I used to see Betty at Juniper Village when my father lived there. She was always spreading good cheer and happiness. She touched many lives and will be missed.

Dear Suzy and Jay,
So sorry to hear about your mom's passing only 3 days before her birthday. I would like to think that she and my mother (Ann Boring) are catching up over a game of bridge. I don't know whether or not you know this, but mom called Betty from the emergency room to tell her about her heart attack. That was the only call to a friend that she made. Mom loved it when your parents would come south for the winter. After our dads passed, she really looked forward to your mother's visits. I also was privileged to enjoy your mother's company both at Bertie's and my home. I will always remember your mom as a fun, lively, busy and extremely positive friend. A life well lived and a beautiful legacy. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Family,
So sad..........What an emptiness you will feel at your family gatherings. Betty always lighted up the room with her smile and her sparkling blue eyes and her stories. May you be surrounded by all the beautiful memories and the love of friends as you mourn her passing.

Blaze and family,
To hear of the loss of your mom I can’t help but think, “We lost the Matriarch of State College”.....Betty’s life was a blessing to us all and I never saw her without a smile. I like to think Sam met her at Heaven’s gate and they drove in to see the countless hearts and spirits, eternally touched, by their daily walk and faithful service. May the pain in your hearts be eased in the abundance of memories of a life TRULY well lived. With heartfelt sympathy.
