Obituary of Betty Lou Deaton

Betty Lou Deaton, 82, of Bellefonte, died Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Centre Crest.

Born June 7, 1938, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Thomas C. and Gladys Viola Swanger Houtz.

She is survived by one daughter, Leslie A. Specht and her husband Martin of Pine Grove Mills; one brother, Richard C. Houtz and his wife Joan of Bellefonte; a nephew, Scott Richard Houtz and his wife Michele of Twin Falls, Idaho; three grandchildren, Mary Beth Platt and her husband, Andrew; Katelyn and Laura Specht; and four great-grandchildren, Russell, Charles, Isaac, and Owen Platt.

Betty graduated from State College high school in 1957. She worked as a presser at Balfurd Cleaners. She was an avid reader, liked to work jigsaw puzzles and was a collector of ceramic bells and shoes.

Graveside service will be 10:30am, October 1, 2020, at Pine Hall Cemetery, 1705 W. College Ave., State College, with Pastor Terry Daugherty officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery.
