Obituary of Raymond L. Rice
Raymond L. "Ray" Rice, 73, of Altoona, died Saturday, October 17, 2020, at UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Born April 24, 1947, in Stamford, CT, he was the son of the late Robert Dare Rice and Margaret De Ciantis Rice, who survives in Kennett Square. On January 10, 1970 he married Jane Helen Griest, who survives.
In addition to his wife and mother, Ray is survived by two children, Steven R. Rice and his wife Caroline of State College, and Erika J. Rice-Morgan of Collegeville; two brothers, Randall "Randy" Rice and his wife Sue of Norristown, and Robert "Bob Rice of Burtonville, MD; and four grandchildren, Evelyn, Owen, and Alex Rice, and Vinnie Morgan.
Ray earned his bachelor's degree in Commerce and Finance from Villanova University in 1970, before receiving his master's degree from the University of Scranton in 1986. Ray was a Procurement Manager for Worley Parsons Corp.
In his career, Ray was an active member of the National Society of Purchasing Managers (NPM) and the National Society of Production and Inventory Control Managers (NPIM). Ray loved fishing, especially fly fishing, hunting, canoeing and photography. He loved woodworking and designing and building many home improvement projects, big and small. "
Memorial service will be Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, with Father Jonathan Dickson officiating.
