Obituary of Mary Merrill Boettcher
Mary Merrill Boettcher was born abroad on March 2, 1935 to American parents in Habana, Cuba to father Merritt Merrill Moon and mother Marjorie Maxine Johnson Moon. She was raised by her mother Marjorie Moon Gaupp and her stepfather, Fred Gaupp, both deceased.
Mary is survived by her sons and their wives, Curt & Cheri Boettcher and Scott and Aprile Boettcher. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Jennifer Dover, Jordan Boettcher, Natane Jordan (husband Trenton Jordan), Dakota Boettcher & Chenoa Runningfox and 6 great-grandchildren: Brayden Dover, Bella Villa, Alexa Christine, Matthew Christine, Aiyana Jordan & Trenton Jordan II.
Mary attended Whitworth College in Washington State.
She was hired by Western Airlines as a Stewardess beginning in 1956 and was a member of the Air Lines Steward and Stewardesses Association International. She was very proud of this accomplishment. Later, Mary did a variety of jobs later but mainly was devoted to raising her sons. Additionally she had a compassion for animals, particularly Springer Spaniels and those in need of rescue. Christmas was her favorite time of year.
Mary was a Marine Corps Mom to son Curt and sat by his side at Walter Reed and Bethesda when he was critically injured.
A small graveside service is scheduled at Boalsburg Cemetery December 2nd with arrangements being handled by Koch Funeral Home.
