Obituary of Barbara K. Hartswick

Barbara K. Hartswick, 94, of State College, died Monday, December 7, 2020, at Centre Crest, Bellefonte.

Born March 1, 1926, in State College, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Ray and Grace Anderson Kinley. On February 29, 1948, she married Max E. Hartswick, who preceded her in death on June 4, 2017. Also preceded in death by 2 great grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Maxine Hartswick Varon (Mark) of Portland, OR, Herbert Hartswick (Cindy), Rebecca Hartswick Houts, and Sean Hartswick, all of State College; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Barbara was a 1944 graduate of State College High School. She received a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Penn State University in 1948.

She was a bookkeeper and worked for many years with her father preparing taxes. She was later employed by Himes Printing and retired in 1984.

Barbara was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Barbara enjoyed family history, playing piano and reading. She loved the ocean and spending time at the family cottage in Ocean City, NJ.

Visitation will be private for family only.

All are invited to graveside service (masks please) on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Pine Hall Cemetery at 12 p.m. with Timothy Eden officiating.
