Obituary of Eleanor Hooven
Eleanor E. Hooven, 88 of the Atrium in State College Pa. died Sunday Dec. 4, 2011 and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born a daughter of Lewis J. Trott and Elizabeth (Phipps) Trott in Coatesville, Pa. who preceded her in death along with brothers Rev. Marvin Trott, Rev. Charles Trott, and sister's Dorothy Trott, Vivian Smith, Shirley Cauller, Elaine Russell and her husband Norman W. Hooven Jr. She leaves surviving brother's James Trott and wife Heretta of Ormond Beach, Florida; Donald Trott and wife Maralyn of Williston, Florida and Betty Swartzentruber of Hood River, Oregon along with numerous nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law Charles R. Hooven of Hollywood Florida; two sons, Thomas E. Hooven of Damascus, Maryland and his wife Kim, daughters Maggie and Molly and Rev. Norman W. Hooven III of rural Port Matilda, and his wife Phyllis and their children, Christian Bailor and wife Amber of Durham N.C., their children Caleb, Addison, and Braedyn; Hannah Gerello and her husband Brian and son Andrew of Midland N.C.; and Rachel Harkey her husband John and son Ethan of Avis, Pa. and Jon Hooven and his wife Jennifer of State College, Pa. The measure of ones life as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend cannot be gauged or distilled into brief sound bytes of past career accomplishments, yet her love of flowers, singing, travel, children and grandchildren are but a few cherished interests she had. She was more to her family than words can say. She lived the full life she chose, faithful and perennially optimistic even to the last; she leaves us with many fond memories and will be missed by those whose life she touched, even in her last weakened state of health. She is whole now and in the presence of God, it is in this that we rejoice and give thanks to the One who gave mercy and grace and welcomed her into eternity with Him and the memories we have of her. Donations in her name may be made to the Resident Annual Fund, The Village at Penn State, 260 Lions Hill Rd. State College, Pa. 16803 A viewing will be held at 10:00 am Thursday Dec. 8 with the Funeral services following at 11:00 am at Koch Funeral Home, South Atherton St., State College, Pa. officiated by Rev.
