Obituary of Joy Anna Malachosky
Joy Anna Malachosky, 92, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Wynwood House of Boalsburg, PA.
Born February 11, 1928 in Finleyville, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Rena Compastrina Spiegel. On June 25, 1947 she married the love of her life, Victor Malachosky, who preceded her in death on August 11,1999.
She grew up on their family farm in Washington County, PA. Here she learned hard work, gardening, canning, and cooking memorable homemade meals. Joy's home and family was what made her heart full. Her grandchildren were her world. They remember her tears flowing as they left after every visit. Her kitchen table was the place for many a serious card game or Yahtzee. She was an avid reader and enjoyed discussing current issues. She designed and crocheted many afghans for family members and lap throws for seniors in nursing homes. She embroidered numerous beautiful linen tablecloths and napkin sets.
Joy was a fitting name for her. Anyone who knew her will remember her kindness, concern for others, uplifting spirit and her big bear hugs where she shook with happiness and held on tight. She was a kid at heart and that kept her youthful to the end. In her own words she said, "I lived a great life."
Joy is survived by one son, Dennis P. Malachosky and his wife Anne M. of Pennsylvania Furnace, two grandchildren, Devon (Andre) Malachosky of Portland, OR, and Drew (Dana) Malachosky of Pittsburgh, and one great-granddaughter, Ayla Vilhena. She also has several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Norman Spiegel, and two sisters, Lillian McNary and Ruby Kerchinsky.
We wish to thank Roslyn and staff at Wynwood House for providing exceptional care and loving support.
Burial will be at Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray, PA.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date for family.
Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
