Obituary of Stanley Mills

Stanley "Stan" Mills, 82, of State College, died Thursday, February 4, 2021.

Stan is survived by his wife, Mary Mills, and four daughters: Melissa Fullerton and her husband, John; Allison Lhotan and her husband, Joe; Nicole Wehner and her husband, Paul; and Terri Mills. He is also survived by a sister, Marilyn Simon and six grandchildren.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Stan received a BS in mechanical engineering from Drexel University and MS in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He retired from Boeing, where he was a Senior Engineer involved in helicopter design. Stan was a member of the American Helicopter Society, where he would participate in educational events and technical research to advance vertical flight design. He also served as a lieutenant in the Naval Air Reserve and a member of Toastmasters. Stan believed education was paramount and continued learning in State College at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Penn State where he took courses in financial management and Middle Eastern studies.

Stan was an avid gardener; loved to read mystery and spy novels; spend quality time with his family; share a savory meal; and always a good laugh. Additionally, Stan was committed to his physical fitness and enjoyed running, swimming and later in life began learning yoga with his wife, Mary. A few of his top travels include Israel, Portugal, Canada, Bermuda, Jamaica and Costa Rica.

Private visitation and funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family with Rabbi David Ostrich officiating.

Burial will be at Pine Hall Cemetery.
