Good, Better, Best – Dick would say that phrase at nearly every lunch time for the ten years I was his daily companion. Dick spent his last ten years living at the Brookline Village assisted living facility in State College. There he had a very nice two-section room that served both as his living room and as his bedroom. Dick and I were together nearly every day. And believe me, we perpetrated a lot of craziness. We took part in most every activity, including testing the freshly baked cookies. Dick loved to build picture puzzles. We built a lot of them over the years; apparently, we built somewhere over 400. Dick was always the gentleman. He never once failed to stand and tip his imaginary hat when he was introduced to a lady. Good, better, best - never let it rest - until the good is better - and the better is best. Rest easy my dear friend. We miss you already.
Dick was such a good man who was crazy smart, quick witted and always fun. He was one of my first clients with real wealth around 20 years ago and has been an absolute joy to work with. He was a true friend and mentor and would support those in his life no matter what. I will miss Dick, but have many wonderful memories with him. Love you Dick, RIP friend.
He was incredibly lucky to have such a loving daughter that was amazing in her care for him. Her and Woody filled his days with fun and love.
