Mary had such a wonderful ability to see and appreciate the unique in each person and to affirm those qualities. Through Mary’s effervescence and her unconditional love, I came to know Jesus. Here now, 48 years later, I still am a Believer. Whenever I share my testimony, I share about Mary. And when I do, others smile, as if she’s touching their life too. At my age, I’ve gathered a few regrets and one of them is not staying touch with Mary. In loving and caring for and losing our son, I failed to reach back and then it seemed too late. And yet, she’s always seemed so close! Always, she will be in my heart. I think of all you children and in my mind’s eye, you are still children. Brad, an adolescent, in his hunting clothes, going with Bob on his first hunting trip. Richard, so smart and so patiently playing with GI Joe with our Richard. Jenny, dear dear Jenny, dressed up in “Little House on the Prairie” costume playing with our Jana. Nathaniel! A late in life surprise (gift) who brought great joy! You are all in my photo albums and the memories are cherished. And, Phil - a blessed answer to a long prayer. My heart is with each of you as you grieve, as you remember. Mary left you a genuine and lasting legacy.
