Obituary of Mary Baumgardner Witmer

Mary Baumgardner Witmer, of State College, born on October 25, 1934, passed away on April 26, 2021 of natural causes.

Born in Bellefonte, Mary was the daughter of the late Lester and Clara Baumgardner of Pleasant Gap and was the wife of the late S. Gale Witmer of Lemont. Mary is survived by her sister, Ruth R. Brooks of Pleasant Gap, her brother Wayne L. Baumgardner of Pleasant Gap and preceded in death by her brother Budd (Bertha) Baumgardner and Stuart Baumgardner. She is survived by her children Tracy Witmer of Columbia, Maryland, and Brian B. (Nancy) Witmer of State College and was preceded in death by her beloved daughters Jo Dell Witmer and Deborah (Roger) Johnson. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jeremiah (Emily) Johnson, Rachel (Jared) Callan, Brandon Witmer, Shane Witmer, Chase Witmer and her great granddaughter, Victoria Johnson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and life-long friends.

Mary graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1952 and worked as an office manager for Witmer and Shuey Contractors and Witmer Construction. Mary loved reading, crossword puzzles, Penn State football, and her grandchildren.

Memorial service will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Koch Funeral Home, with Jarrod Sechler officiating.
