Obituary of Rosemary Wherry

Rosemary (Hogan) Wherry, age 64, of State College, PA, formerly of Munhall passed away on May 1, 2021. She fought hard for the life she loved. She was the beloved and cherished wife of Gary Wherry and oldest daughter of the late James E. Hogan and Mary (Alexander) Hogan. She is also survived by her four sisters; Judy (Ed) Webb, Ruth Ann (Joe) Noblick, Kathleen (Dave) Siegel and Alice (Art) Holzmann. She was the proud and loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews including; Jason (Kelly), Lisa (Alejandro), Amy, Stephanie (Brian), Jordan, Christopher, Jacob, Alexis and Jaclyn. Rosie was born in Munhall on July 14, 1956. She was a graduate of Steel Valley High School Class of 1974 and has lived in Buffalo, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, Dayton, Columba, SC making life-long friends along the way. Finally settling in State College where she and Gary called home. Rosemary recently retired from Penn State University College of Nursing. Rosemary enjoyed tailgating and attending Penn State Football games, shopping, vacations at the beach, traveling, including her recent trip to Italy with her husband, family gatherings and holiday traditions, especially making her famous thumbprint cookies. In her earlier years she enjoyed ceramics, bowling and aerobics. Rosie will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc, 3511 Main Street, Munhall, (412-461-6394). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 10 AM in St. Thomas the Apostles Parish, St. Therese Roman Catholic Church worship site. Interment will follow at Brush Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made in memory of Rosemary to the American Cancer Society.
