Dear Eliza:
Jan and I were moved by the beautifully written obituary for your mother Sophia. She must have been a striking woman, and I am sorry that we never met her. I am reminded of my own grandmother, a wonderful woman who lived to nearly 101. She had profound influence on me that still endures, a quarter century after her departure. I trust that Sophia will be remembered similarly over the years to come. We can all hope to be remembered as fondly as Sophia has been.
