Obituary of Russell Allen Roan

Russell Allen Roan, 70, of Pennsylvania Furnace, died peacefully with his family by his side, Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born January 15, 1951, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Harry H. Roan, Jr. and Evelyn Williams Roan. On August 2, 1975, he married Laurie Anderson, who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Matthew James Roan and his wife Dina R. of Centre Hall, Kevin Scott Roan and his wife Leann M. of Pennsylvania Furnace, and Erica Jane Mulholland and her husband Dennis L. of Zionsville; two brothers, Larry S. Roan of Salisbury, NC, and John W. Roan and his wife Linda of Pennsylvania Furnace; nine grandchildren, Devin, Ashlie, Madyson, Natalie, Owen, Evan, Finn, Liam, and Hailey; and one great-grandson, Jaxon. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry H. Roan III and Gary Thomas Roan.

Russell graduated from State College Area High School in 1969. He earned a Degree from Vale Technical Institute as an Automobile Mechanic and Body & Fender Repairman in 1970. Russell served his country in Germany as part of the United States Army. Upon his return he started his career at Dix Cadillac before opening Roan's Body Shop in 1977, which is now owned and operated by his son, Kevin S. Roan.

Russell loved traveling and was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday, May 21, 2021 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the funeral home with Pastor Susan Williamson officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery.
