Obituary of Harry Edward Houtz

Harry Edward Houtz, 86, Passed away at his home on Wednesday June 30, 2021. Born June 7, 1935 in Bellefonte PA. He was the son of the late Harry S. and Margret Houtz. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet Marie Houtz, of 66 years. He is also survived by his daughter Lachell (Shelly) Robin Huey of State College and son, Larry Edward Houtz and his wife Stacy of Jacksonville Florida; six grandchildren, Crisinda Wrye, Megan Myers, Leslie Coursen, Gwen Coursen, Kylie Houtz, Kassi Houtz; four great-grandchildren, Alexa Best, Emma Myers, Ethan Myers and Quentin Wrye, and two sisters and four bothers: Bess Chronister, Connie Reed, Bob, Ronald, David, Luther. In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by two sisters, Beverly and Alice.

Harry worked at Penn State University at the ARL facility for 37 years until his retirement. After retirement, Harry had a workshop where he repaired just about anything and loved to make beautiful things out of wood. He enjoyed bowling at Bellefonte lanes for many years and also loved playing FreeCell, going gambling with his friends, outdoor activities and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife, family, and friends.

Services for Harry will be private.

Burial will be at Grays Cemetery.
