Tom was a wonderful man who lit up our lives. We first knew Tom as our friendly neighbor, leader for the neighborhood volleyball games when he arranged for our street to be closed for holiday get togethers. He also coached Don on a Parks and Rec volleyball team. He was "Coach Frank" to the members and Don still addressed him as "Coach". Most recently he has been the coordinator, with Anita, for the LM March Madness NCAA basketball tournament pool which our son, Preston, started with Brett Mulligan in the early 1980s.
Tom was always a joy to see in person, but now we'll have to rely on our memories of him to carry on his great positivity. We will miss Tom; he was one of those special persons whom you are grateful to have known. Because of his friendly demeanor and joyful approach to life, many will remember him with a smile. We certainly will!

“Uncle Tom” as I knew him was the sweetest friend to me. I was roommates and best friends with one of Tom and Anita’s nieces at Penn State. Tom and Anita would have us over for home cooked meals all the time, would always come support us at our hockey games, and really provided me with so much comfort during my four years there. Coming to Penn State from Colorado, I was far away from home. Uncle Tom’s amazing stories, kind spirit, and loving home made me feel I had family on the east coast which is an irreplaceable feeing. Sending my love to Aunt Anita and all of the family who received me with open arms.
Love, Jeanette Bateman

Dear Anita, Jen, Calvin, and Morgan,
Words cannot express how heartbroken I am for all of you. You truly have my deepest sympathy. We loved Tom because he was always so warm, caring, and friendly to be around. Whether I saw him at church, The Waffle Shop, school, SPRA pool, sporting events for Morgan or Cal, or just in the neighborhood- he was always quick with a greeting, quick to ask about teaching or my family, and he was quick to say something funny that would make me laugh. His love and pride for Morgan and Calvin was always so evident in the way he talked with me about them. He was such a proud grandpa! My heart goes out to them now. Anita, I think I only saw Tom a few times when you were not by his side (minus the years when he would bring our mail to RP). I'm thinking about you so much. And, Jen- Our dads are such important parts of our lives, no matter how old we are. I know you were close to your dad. He will always be with you. You are all in my thoughts and in my prayers. Hugs to all of you.
Sincerely,
Mary Robert
