Our daughter, Amy, so enjoyed her time with Oriana Singers, both singing and accompanying under Dr, Drafall. The warmth and expertise of Dr, Drafall and her love for her students were readily apparent whenever we attended concerts. The local music community surely has a void without Dr. Drafall.
Our heartfelt condolences and prayers to Mr. Drafall.

I am so sorry for this loss. Lynn brought a beautiful sound from the students. We very much enjoyed our daughters concerts under Lynn’s direction. I can hear one of the song in my head even now, 4 years later!

Dear Bob, I am so truly sorry to hear about Lynn. I can never find the right words, but know that my Mom and I appreciated your and Lynn's neighborly kindness over the years. She fought for so many of those years and continued to make the most of everyday. Truly inspirational. I know you will miss her with every part of your heart. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Take good care, Lynne Bechdel

I’m so sad to hear of Lynn’s passing. As an instrumentalist I had the opportunity to sing under her only occasionally, but her musicality was always superb, and her personality energetic and sincere. She was a woman for whom I had the utmost respect. She’ll be sorely missed.

Being a member of the Oriana Singers every semester of college under Dr. Drafall was such an important part of my time at Penn State, as well as my singing career/ journey. She greeted every practice with warmth and joy, and she approached even the seemingly mundane warmups and scales with her vivacious spirit - it made you feel excited and enthused to start. She believed in us, and we never wanted to let her down. She cared. I mean really and truly cared and gave her all. I was quite lost in college but she made me feel like I really could sing. She pushed me to be my best. She gave me her time for questions and help during her hours even though I wasn’t in the music school. She was encouraging in the most genuine way. And when in doubt, she knew we could “rise above” and sing through. She is the reason I sing now. She was an amazing teacher, conductor, and person. She will be greatly missed.

Dr. Lynn Drafall was a very special and dear colleague and friend. An incredible conductor, academician, and choral music education administrator, Lynn and I shared many fun times in various social gatherings and in the homes of mutual friends, ACDA Regional & National Conference experiences, and 'just having great times' whenever we were able to do so. Our lives are so enriched for having been in her presence over these years. Lynn and Bob Drafall, my friends, gave of themselves to everyone with whom they came into contact. I shall miss this amazingly-wonderful friend....but I am so blessed and thankful that I was allowed the joy of having her in my music life and my personal life. My Prayers and Condolences to Bob and the Family.

Absolutely my favorite conductor ever. I loved singing for Dr. Drafall and always felt so empowered in Oriana Singers. The combination of strength and elegance in her conducting and leadership is something I continue to strive for. I will always be thankful for the opportunity to work with her. Sending Bob and the family my sympathy.

I worked with Lynn for many years in the School of Music. I was the administrative assistant to the Director of the School and had many opportunities to work with her on many things-travel, budget, etc. She was always pleasant and considerate and concerned for others. I’m sorry I haven’t kept in touch with her since I retired. I will always remember her smile and her laugh. She will be missed but I’m glad she’s not suffering any longer.

I light this digital candle in memory of my dear friend and mentor Lynn Ellen Drafall and in honor of her wonderful husband Robert Drafall. Lynn was such a bright light of music making, mentorship, and educative humanity for all the many lives she touched. May her memory be for a blessing. Much love, support, and warmest, healing thoughts for Bob and the extended Peterson/Drafall family.

I was fortunate to be one of the young people whose life was touched by this wonderful person. Lynn Drafall filled in for one year as our choir teacher at Fenton High School in Illinois. That year, the band and choir took a trip to Disney World, it was the first time I was there and we had a chance to spend time with her and Robert. I have vivid memories of laughter, lots of laughter, they were like two kids together...made the trip so much more fun. I live in Florida near Disney and every time I visit there, I think of that trip.

Dr. Drafall was one of the most inspiring conductors and professors I ever had. She instilled more love of music in me, especially choral music. She was a positive, driven, passionate, and inspiring educator. I was lucky to have her for all 4 years at Penn State in Oriana and Concert Choir. I have special memories of going on Concert Choir Tours through NYC, and being invited for a choir picnic at their lovely home. She will forever be remembered by the many students that she taught and educated, including myself.

Ever since graduation, 12 long years ago, I have been searching for something like Oriana singers. Still haven't found that steady, calm purpose anywhere. Pretty sure it's because nowhere else had a Lynn Drafall.
