Obituary of Donald Diefenderfer

Donald F. Diefenderfer 83 a resident of State College, died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at his residence. Born July 13, 1928 in Hazelton, PA the son of the late John H. and Helen Rudy Diefenderfer. On June 20, 1959 he married the former Dorothy Smith who survives at home. Donald is also survived by two daughters Laurie A. Westfall and her husband Michael of Midlothian, VA and Karin S. Straw of State College, two sister and one brother survive, Louise Gulas of Hazelton, Jean Parnell of Jacksonville, FL and Robert Diefenderfer and his wife Marilyn of Chapel Hill, NC. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Brendan Westfall, Breanne Westfall and Michael Straw. Robert was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church of State College, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a graduate of Hazelton High School class of 1946 and received his BS degree in Engineering from Penn State in 1952 and was employed for 18 years at Raytheon as Manager in Engineering Service and also for HRB. Funeral services will be held at the Koch Funeral Home 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11 am with Rev. P. Stevens Lynn officiating. Burial will be in the Boalsburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church, 205 S. Garner Street, State College, PA 16801 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
