Martin Stabb was an excellent professor. I studied under him as an undergranduate and also Ph.D. candidant at Missouri University. I I fondly remember him and indirectly share in his family's sense of loss. Arthur Mullies

I just found out about Dr. Stabb's passing. Took several courses with him in the Penn State Spanish Ph.D. program back in the 1970's. He introduced us all to the works of Borges, and I presume he was instrumental in bringing the great Argentine author to campus in the late 1960's, when I was an undergrad. Will never forget Borges in person, thanks to Dr. Stabb . A fine teacher with an easy rapport with students in the classroom-- witty with a wry humor accompanied by a smile. He was very kind to me after I suffered a personal family tragedy as a Doctoral student, and brought me back for a year as an Instructor while I got my life back together. One doesn't forget such kindness. Rest in Peace,
Roy Kerr, Ph.D, Spanish, Penn State, 1979., Professor Emeritus of Spanish, Rollins College,

I'm really sorry to hear about this. I did not know Dr. Stabb well, but I was at his house once, his last year as chair for the Dept. of SIP at Penn State when he had the yearly party for the department and I was a graduate student then. I remember meeting and talking to his wife Gloria on that one occasion. It was a very nice party. I wondered about him a lot over the years. As a grad student in Spanish, although I never had him for a credit course, I did audit his Latin American Essay class which I really enjoyed. I saw that one of his colleagues, Dr. Robert Lima, died in State College only about two weeks ago. Brian Kistler
