Obituary of Barbara Fry

Barbara F. Fry, 74, of State College, died Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born September 3, 1937 in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Hester Focht Taylor. She married William R. Fry on June 13, 1958 who preceded her in death on September 21, 1998. She is survived by two children, Shawn W. Fry, of State College and Scott A. Fry and his wife, Carolyn, of State College. Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters: Tom Taylor and his wife, Marie; Bill Taylor and his wife, Joan; Marion Focht, all of Altoona; Irene Musser and her husband, Joe, of Williamsburg and three grandchildren: Paige, Daniel and Megan Fry all of State College. Barbara was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School and received a nursing degree from Altoona Hospital in 1958. She was employed by Centre Community Hospital as an operating room nurse for more than twenty years. She attended Mount Nittany United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed being the organist at Spring Creek Presbyterian Church for over fifteen years. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Mount Nittany United Methodist Church with the Rev. Howard T. Woodruff officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Nittany United Methodist Church at 1500 East Branch Road, P.O.
