Obituary of Anna Sahr
Anna Emma Sahr, a resident of State College, has died on Monday, January 16, 2012 at the age of 77. She was born in Jersey City, NJ and was the daughter of Sterling Wardell and Sadie Futterer.
Anna was the loving wife of John Louis Sahr for 57 years and shares her loss along with their five surviving children; Anne, Elizabeth, John, Christina, Mary, and Joan (her predeceased daughter), as well as her nine grandchildren. Her siblings; Sterling, Frances, and Sandra also share in the loss of this wonderful woman.
Anna was a caring mother, nurturing grandmother, and devoted friend. Along with her loving husband John, they have been extremely generous in giving and helping others. Anna was a chef, entrepreneur, and talented artist who was happiest when sharing her talents. She taught the art of painting, cooking, and making prayer shawls. Anna shared many happy moments with her dear friends of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, the Red Hat Society, and the State College Senior Center. Anna will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Visitations will be on Thursday, January 19, 2012 between 6 to 8 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd at 867 Gray's Woods Blvd. in State College. The arrangements are being coordinated by Koch Funeral Home in State College.
Memorial mass will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd with Father Charles M. Amershek, Jr. officiating.
