Obituary of Larry L. Smith

Larry L. Smith, also known as "Smitty" and "Big L", 81, of Bellefonte (formerly East Branch Road, Huntingdon), died Friday, February 4, 2022, at home.

Born May 6, 1940, in McConnellstown, he was the son of the late Doyle and Reba Weller Smith. On March 26, 1960 he married Doreen E. O'Bryan at the All Faiths Chapel at Penn State University.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Shane F. Smith and his wife Sandra J. of Huntingdon, and Amber D. McMurtrie and her husband Jason A. of Bellefonte and Grenada; one sister, Barbara Kidd of Lewistown; and two grandchildren, Brent Smith of Colorado and Alyssa Spigelmyer of Altoona. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald. C. Smith.

Larry graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1958. He had training in chemistry and business management (Chicago, Philadelphia, Buffalo). He owned a car detailing business with clients in Huntingdon and State College, known as Tidy Car, retiring in 1995.

He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, attending the Kingdom Hall of State College. He volunteered his time in the community and congregations of Huntingdon and State College.

A private burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
