Obituary of Barbara Jean Huntley
Barbara Jean "Barb" Huntley, 87, of State College, died Monday, March 14, 2022, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
She was born October 11, 1934, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Malcolm and Gladys Roschi Schmidt. On May 17, 1975 she married Thomas William Huntley, who survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Kurt E. Huntley and his wife Shirley of Mesa, AZ, Danti Rivera and her husband Edwin of Reunion, FL, and Thomas Edward "Ted" Huntley and his wife Diane of Walnut Creek, CA; two granddaughters, Sara Huntley and Laura Huntley; and two nephews, James and Mark Wygant. She was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Wygant and her niece, Susan Findley.
Barb graduated from Meadville High School in 1952. She graduated from Spencer Hospital School of Nursing in Meadville, Pennsylvania as a Registered Nurse. She was a supervisor of nursing at the Cleveland Clinic from 1958-1975 and an administrator in the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State University for 18 years from 1975 until her retirement in 1993.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she participated in many church activities including the choir.
She enjoyed reading, golf, skiing, photography and her cat Missy.
Visitation will be Friday, March 18, 2022 from 12-2 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2221 North Oak Lane, State College. Her funeral will follow at 2 pm at the church, with Pastor Ronald Miller officiating.
Burial will be Saturday, March 19, at 9:00 am at Centre County Memorial Park.
