Obituary of Dorothy Lucille Agnew

Dorothy Lucille Agnew, 87, originally from Pittsburgh, died on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at The Oaks in Pleasant Gap.

Born April 10, 1935, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy J. Hale Devine. On June 21, 1958 she married William Carroll "Pete" Agnew III, who preceded her in death on September 22, 2019.

She is survived by five children, Lisa Reeder and her husband, Todd, of Boalsburg, William Agnew IV of Brunswick, GA, Brian Agnew of Las Vegas, NV, Decia Stenzel and her husband, Tyrone, of Prior Lake, MN, and Douglas Agnew and his wife, Kim, of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; four siblings, Cecelia Diettinger, Katherine Devine, Richard Devine and Karen McGuire; two grandchildren, Shelby J. Rinehimer and her husband, Zachary, and Carly N. Holzwarth and her husband, Bradford, four great-grandchildren, Lily, Gunnar and Lincoln Rinehimer and Theodore Holzwarth. She was preceded in death by three siblings, William Devine, Caroline Parrish and Janet Sharp.

Dorothy was a 1953 graduate of Shaler High School. She received a Bachelor's degree in Education from Chatham College and a Master's in Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh.

She was employed as a School Counselor at Canon MacMillan School District until her retirement.

Dorothy enjoyed playing tennis earlier in life. Bridge was a lifelong passion from Saturday nights with friends in the Bethel Park neighborhood to virtually during the pandemic.

The last 5 years at The Oaks she and Pete welcomed many new friends and after her husband passed, she developed a special friendship with Jackie Quilliam (Thelma to her Louise).
