I am so sorry to learn of the passing of your Mom. Jody had such style and class, I know my Mom, Lorraine, always looked up to and admired her. She will be missed greatly. This photo was among my Mom’s possessions. Jody was loved.
Dear Lou Anne, Steve, and Elizabeth:
Our thoughts and prayer are with you this day and always. We take confront in knowing your mother is now united with aunt Emma and uncle Jim.
One of my most anticipated introduction in the summer of 1972 was to meet a daughter of a real American cowboy family of the Deavers. Seeing me a bit nervous, the cow-lady greeted me warmly with her wide-open arms and that contagious smile. Knowing my limited language comprehension, she introduced herself slowly and gently. “I got a big hug from a daughter of a real cowboy !”,
So I wrote to my mother in Japan.
We had many occasions to see Jody in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Duarte. (Included was the fun-filled and adventurous journey from California to Santa Fe in uncle George’s camping trailer! )
Always well-tanned and with a large blue turquoise neckless on, Jody looked rugged and independent just like a cowboy’s daughter. But she was soft spoken, reflective, inquisitive, and always eager to listen.
Jody, uncle Jim and aunt Emma prepared a dinner for Pat and me; it was a cowboy style BBQ and chili beans in the woods under the starry sky. They served them in the tin cans that uncle Jim used int the field during the old days. That was one meal one evening I have treasured ever since.
Jody inspires us to be a better person in her quiet way. It’s been a privilege to have her in our lives.
The foto was taken August 27, 1993 when Yoko visited Santa Fe with her father and Koji that just turned 2 years old.

Dear Lou Anne, Steve and Elizabeth, Know our love and prayers are with you. Your mother was not only a dear cousin, but also like a big sister and great friend. She will be greatly missed. So grateful we had time with her in April. This picture was taken on Easter Sunday at Becky's home. Much love, Melinda xoxo
