Obituary of JoAnn Ellen Musser Kidwell
JoAnn Ellen Musser Kidwell, 88, of State College, died Tuesday, May 31, 2022, surrounded by loved ones, at Maple Farm Nursing Center, Akron, PA.
Born June 2, 1933, in State College, she was the daughter of the late Chester Newton and Sarah Johnston Musser. On July 31, 1955 she married James Henry Kidwell, Sr., who preceded her in death on April 16, 2013.
She is survived by two children, James Henry Kidwell, Jr. and his life partner, Bonnie Showalter, of Denver, PA, Sara Marie Usner and her husband, Jeffery, of Lititz; six grandchildren, Marie Robbins and her husband, Justin, Corin Dundore and her husband, Kevin, Peter Kidwell and his wife, Rachel, Taylor McCafferty and her husband Brian "Mac", Kylee Cole and her husband Dan, and Lois Lantzy and her husband, Kyle; ten great-grandchildren, Peyton, Carter, Oliver and Emersyn Robbins, Luke and Isaac Dundore, Levi and Lilee Kidwell, and Connor and Xander Lantzy. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Chester Musser, John N. Musser and Donald E. Musser. She is also survived by Four Sister in Laws, Carolyn Musser of Nazareth, PA, Charlotte Musser of Milroy, PA, Betty Marcella of Bradford PA, and Rita Kidwell of State College, PA.
JoAnn was a 1951 graduate of State College High School.
She retired after 30 years of service as a school secretary for the State College Area School District.
JoAnn was an active member of Pine Hall Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed spending time with family, square dancing, camping, reading and volunteering her time doing community service.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m., on Thursday June 9th, 2022, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College.
Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m., on Friday June 10th, 2022, at Pine Hall Lutheran Church, 1760 West College Ave, State College. There will also be an additional visitation period from 9 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service at the church.
Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pine Hall Lutheran Church, 1760 West College Avenue, State College, PA 16801.
